WIFW AW 13 Day2

Friday, April 19, 2013

Day 2 of WIFW is started by Bodice by Ruchika Sachdeva with some fantastic peices. Muted color palette and subtle make up gives her collection a sombre feeling. Her collection is all about androgyny with style taking us back to school! Samant Chauhan's show is started by the sound of bikes thus we see some fab tan biker jackets on the ramp. What I didn't understand was the need to bring in flowy white gowns and floral print dresses afterwards. Urvashi Kaur's AW collection is ethnic and nomadic with a very nature based color palette. Flowy silhouettes, tie and die is seen throughout.

Arjun Saluja's AW collection 'AIK' is his search for the true meaning of the digit One. His collection is crisp, structured and neat with Arjun Saluja written all over it. We see motifs, prints and what the designer does the best, Androgyny. Alpana Neeraj's collection is glamorous, dark and gothic. Scaly, glossy and futuristic garments were the highlight. Loved the fish tail gowns and exaggerated shoulders. The master of drapes doesn't disappoint us yet again with lots of layering and textures. The color palette is mostly warm with a few all black outfits. His signature sarees are my favorite!

It goes without saying that Shantanu and Nikhil's AW13 collection makes it to my top 5. The menswear left me drooling and oh that beautiful saree in the middle. Beautiful drapes, structured fits and the vivid color palette that takes us through the Thar desert just made everything perfect!
